Whilst Jess was fund raising and receiving treatment in hospital she said she would love to raise enough money to buy a lodge for all the children and teenagers could visit to relax and have some quality family time together. Since then we have sold our family home to purchase a smaller home in Henshaw, Hexham, Northumberland with 3 acres of land to so we can buy and build a lodge.
The charity are delighted to have got outline planning permission for 3 lodges on the land at Henshaw in July this year. This was supported through the process by WYG, a Newcastle based multi-disciplinary consultancy who supported us on planning, landscape, ecology, drainage and highways. Also a huge thanks to John Gibson, Gibson Surveying and mapping who came out and under took a topographical survey of the site within 1 day of us approaching them! Now the detail design work is being progressed and we are delighted to be being supported by Sadler Brown Architects who are looking at the possibility of bespoke chalet design, subject to costs. To help us on the costing and delivery Henry Riley, a commercial construction consultancy, are kindly holding our hand along the way. We are also working with a range of other potential consultants and contractors to make Jessica’s dream come true and have some works completed by December 2017. Watch this space and we will update you on the journey as we go along.
We will be looking for extra support on furnishing etc so any offers no matter how small greatly appreciated.
